A’ibom Man Stabs wife to Death, Photos
Information reaching us that, A middle aged man, Iniobong Nkanga has allegedly killed his wife, Glory, after stabbing her with a knife and inflicting several injuries on her body on Sunday in Uyo on.
Iniobong Nkanga, a native of Ndiya in Nsit Ubium LGA reportedly murdered his 11 years wife in cool blood after she left his house in Eket to stay with her elder brother in Uyo due to an alleged constant abuse and maltreatment by her husband.
According to the deceased elder brother, Mr. Archibong Omon, his late sister repeatedly reported to their family about the persistent domestic violence she suffered in Nkanga’s house, and the family made several efforts to advised her husband against torturing their sister, but all proved abortive.
Narrating the incident, Mr. Omon said, “My sister left her husband’s house in Eket last December to stay with me in the Redemption Academy’s quarters in Uyo where I live, saying that she could no longer bear the constant abuse by her husband, whom she said was fond of beating her up with any available objects on regular basis”.
“Before coming to my place, she had earlier ran to take refuge in her friend’s place in Eket and the husband traced her to the house with a knife and attempted to stab her, but he was overpowered by neighbours who disposed him of the knife.”
“My sister reported the matter to the police at the Akwa Ibom State police headquarters in Ikot Akpan Abia, Uyo, the matter was still with the police as at the time he finally murdered my sister.”
Mr. Omon said, that after his sister relocated to stay with him in uyo, Iniobong came to his premises with a knife on Sunday, 7th March 2021, and met her on the road close to Redemption Academy and stabbed her severally before escaping from the scene.
The victim was reportedly rushed to the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital where she died two days after the incident.
Glory who hails from Oku Iboku in Itu LGA was a mother of three children and she was described by her brother to be a peaceful and illustrious young woman.
He however, said that though his sister has had three children for Iniobong Nkanga, but that Iniobong never married her late sister legitimately.
A police officer at the state police Headquarters who spoke on the condition of onanymity confirmed the incident and said that the murder case has been reported at the headquarters and that the suspect was still at large.
“A case of threat to life was earlier reported against one Iniobong Eseme Nkanga from Nsit Ubium, who attempted to stab his wife, but while the suspect was placed on wanted list, he turned back to murder the mother of his three children and ran away.
The suspect is still at large, but he cannot escape justice, he will be arrested and prosecuted,” he said.
