BREAKING: Causalities As Gunmen Attack PDP Campaign Convoy

Gunmen Attack PDP Campaign Convoy, Kill Driver, Others

It was a tragic evening for residents of Enugu State as gunmen believed to be cult members attacked the campaign convoy of the Peoples Democratic Party candidate for Enugu North/South Federal Constituency, Hon. Oforchukwu Egbo.

According to sources, the incident happened on Wednesday evening at Eke-Otu in Amechi Awkunanaw, Enugu South Local Government Area of the State.

The assailants were reported to have killed the driver of one of the buses in the convoy and his body burnt was together with the vehicle.

It was earlier reported that some gunmen also attacked and killed the Labour Party senatorial candidate for Enugu East senatorial district, Mr Oyibo Chukwu along with five supporters in the same Amechi on Wednesday evening.

Desperate politicians who are afraid of losing the forthcoming elections following the introduction of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) have now unleashed terror on opponents to scare voters away from coming out on election day so that their friends will vote them in, a source said.

Efforts to speak with the spokesperson for the state police command, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, were unsuccessful as he could not be reached by telephone at the time of filing this report.
