Following the 2023 Presidency, the question reaching Ibom Focus says Who Will Take Tinubu’s Place?

According To The New Electoral Law, Who Is To Take Tinubu’s Place Should He Step Down Over His Ill-health: Shettima Or Amaechi

As report of the presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu traveling to the United Kingdom to seek medical attention made many wonder if the former governor of Lagos State has the required strength to withstand the rigorous campaign rallies that will begin in a few days.

Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a frontline candidate for the 2023 presidential election struggles to remain fit as his frail health elicits doubt over his capability to preside over the affairs of the most populous black nation in the world. The presidential campaign will officially begin today and report has it that Bola Tinubu has been flown out for urgent medical care.

Some have suggested Bola Ahmed Tinubu step down for his running mate, Shettima Kashim necessary for him to take proper care of his failing health. However, some argue that should Tinubu decide to step down that the first runner-up in the All Progressive Congress (APC) presidential primary election, Rotimi Amaechi will take his place and not his running mate, Kashim Shettima.

However, according to the new electoral law which came into effect in 2022, should a presidential candidate for a particular election decide to discontinue or dies, his running mate is expected to continue with the election and not the first runner-up in the primary election that produced the presidential candidate nor the party conducting a fresh primary election as is required for election for legislative houses.
