Nigerian police force, Kwara Command has warned its officers against unethical behaviours, such as harassment and extortion of innocent residents in the state.

The commissioner of police in the state, Tuesday Assayomo, issued the warning in a statement signed by the command’s spokesperson, Okasanmi Ajayi, on Saturday in Ilorin.

Mr Assayomo said that the command frowns against the indiscriminate stopping of youths in both private and public transportation, and on the streets for the purpose of checking for incriminating information and eventual harassment and extortion by its officers on field duties.

“Further to this directive, home owners or tenants are also advised to demand search warrants authenticating the search of such dwelling places before the exercise be allowed.
