Missing Russian Plane Found, All Passengers Found
An AN-2 aircraft that went missing in Russia’s Far Eastern Kamchatka Peninsula has been located, with all three individuals onboard miraculously surviving an emergency landing.
Regional Emergencies Minister Sergey Lebedev announced the development on his VKontakte page, stating, “The plane was found. Everyone is alive.”
According to the regional Emergencies Ministry, the survivors are being transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation and care.
BSS News reports that the missing individuals were located near Tundrovaya Mountain around 5:00 a.m. Moscow time (2:00 a.m. GMT), according to Russia’s Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya).
The search operation included specialists from the Kamchatka Region’s Civil Defense, Emergencies, and Fire Safety Center, supported by two rescue helicopters.
The An-2 aircraft, carrying three people and commercial cargo, disappeared from radar in Kamchatka, Russia’s Far East, on December 19.
However, attempts to establish contact at its scheduled landing time were unsuccessful.
