JUST IN: Another Rivers APC Delegate Is Dead

Information reaching Ibom Focus says that Another Rivers APC Delegate Is Dead

A delegate from Rivers State to the just concluded All Progressives Congress presidential primary in Abuja, Loveday Mathes, is dead.

Mathes and seven others, including another APC chieftain, Onimitein Samuel, were involved in an auto crash near the Abuja University Teaching Hospital.

Samuel had earlier died after their vehicle somersaulted.

The Deputy Publicity Secretary of the APC in Rivers State, Darlington Nwauju, confirmed Mathes death to our correspondent in Port Harcourt.

He said, “Early this morning, the unthinkable happened. News of a second loss. We are saddened by the early exit of two committed progressives. It’s difficult to bear the pains!

“He is the secretary of the party in the Degema Local Government Area. Loveday Mathes died in an Abuja hospital,” Uwauju stated.

Meanwhile, former APC governorship candidate in Rivers State, Dr Dakuku Peterside, has expressed shock over the death of two members of the party in an auto crash in Abuja on Thursday.

Peterside, in a statement by his media office, mourned the deceased.

He said, “Even as it is natural to grieve when death strikes in families like in this instance, I have the confidence that the sacrifices they made in their lifetime to build the APC in their respective local chapters into a viable democratic institution, shall not be in vain.

“They have planted, completed their parts and left, though leaving us in tears, their democratic credentials should always spur us to greater service.”

He prayed God to comfort the affected families and grant quick healing to those who sustained injuries in the accident.
