Commercial Motorcyclists To Pay N146,000 Tax
Commercial motorcyclists otherwise known as “Okada” riders and taxi drivers in Enugu State will pay a whooping N146,000 and N164,250 respectively in taxes to the State Government in 2025, according to a new tax regime approved by the Executive Chairman, Enugu State Internal Revenue Service, Mr Emmanuel Ekene Nnamani.
Market traders, including water vendors, other petite traders and street shops will now be paying N36,000 in annually taxes to the state government.
The new tax regime document on Wednesday, also shower that tricycle drivers in the state will be paying about N200,750; Mini bus/ small dyna N219,000 and other buses/14 seater/18 seater/big dyna/ pickup van etc will now be paying N237,250 in taxes.
Sienna and water tankers will be paying N237,250 and N346,750 respectively. Miner’s ticket – N1,095,000; Trucks (608, 814, 911, 6-10 tyres) without produce/ product – N985,500; Trailer without produce/product – N1,204,500.
Bus/Others with produce/products – N1,277,500; 911/truck/trailer with produce/products 6-14 tyres – N1,460,000 and Trailer/Trucks with produce/ products- 16 tyres above will now pay N1,642,500.
The new tax regime according to the approved document starts from today January 1, 2025. The taxes will be paid on daily basis through E-TICKET.
According to the daily chart, Okada riders will be paying N400 daily; Taxi drivers N450; while Tricycle will be paying N550.
It was gathered that the money is not the only taxes the group listed pay in the state. For instance, drivers has unions like the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) and Tricycle Association. They also pay for parks where they load passengers and also pay the loaders.
