Kogi Gov Poll: Trouble Looms As INEC’s IREV Portal Exposes Discrepancies In Figures Of Voters Captured By BVAS And Information On Uploaded Election Result Sheets

The data and information obtained from the Independent National Electoral Commission Results Viewing (IReV) portal show discrepancies in the number of accredited voters captured by the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and the figures contained in the uploaded manual electoral result sheets for some polling units in Kogi State.

Off-season governorship elections were held in Kogi, Imo and Bayelsa states on Saturday.

Naija News House observed the discrepancies in some polling units in Okene, Adavi and Okehi local government areas of the state.

For instance, Ohiana Farm Settlement polling unit, Onyukoko Ward in the Okene local government area, IREV displayed 202 (an indication that only 202 voters were captured by BVAS during Saturday’s election) while 535 were manually recorded as the accredited number of voters at the polling unit with 530 valid votes.

In another polling unit in Onyukoko Ward, IREV shows that 217 voters were accredited on Saturday but the manual result sheet shows there were 638 accredited votes, with 630 valid votes.

At Open Space by Apelende Area CheckPoint in Onyukoko Ward, finding revealed that IREV had 169 as the figure for accredited voters while the manual result sheet contained 430 for both accredited and valid voters.

At Near Jimoh Otaru’s Compound, Irivucheba Ward, in the Adavi local government area, IREV accredited 202 voters, while 591 was recorded in the electoral result sheet for both registered voters and valid votes.

This situation is also the same for Opposite Obaro’s House II, Kuroko I, in the Adavi local government area. Seventy-eight people were captured by IREV as the number of registered voters, but 242 was recorded in the manual result sheet for both registered voters and valid votes.

For Near Nabenege’s House I polling unit, IREV accredited 93 while the figure recorded for valid votes and accredited votes in the polling unit is 341. as contained in the electoral result sheet.

In the Okehi local government area, near Akande’s House polling unit in Okuehi Ward, IREV shows that 112 is the figure for the registered voters at the polling unit, while the manual result sheet indicates 331 as the number of registered voters and valid votes for the polling unit.

Meanwhile, on the IREV portal, INEC absolved itself of any blame by stating: “Please note that accreditation figures may not be final until synchronization is completed from the devices used in this location.”
